EUROPE AND YOU 20 years of slovakia in the eu

Program celebrating Slovakia’s 20 years of European Union membership. Through the fairytales of the individual EU member states and their illustrations, we will learn about the many similar themes and characters that appear in them. You can find us at the BIBIANA Library until 16:00. If you cannot come, you can listen to the audio series European Fairytales on our website at home or when travelling.

WHAT IF Štefánik...?

What would happen if Štefánik met Batman, Godzilla, or Golem on his journeys around the world? In the workshop inspired by the comic book The Adventures of Milan Rastislav Štefánik, you can create your own characters, worlds, and encounters. You can actively participate in making the comic book – from an idea to building your own characters and filling their speech bubbles with words and comic book sounds.

Under the guidance of T. Cíger

(For children 7 and older)

COLOUR ALCHEMY

Join us for an expedition where the connection to nature becomes the source of a new artistic adventure. The workshop aims to explore and use natural pigments that offer a wide array of colours and creative experiences with the help of nature. Participants will be able to learn about the fascinating world of colours nature provides us. Children will learn about the methods using natural pigments and experiment with various techniques and materials artists use.

Under the guidance of A. Frajková, N. Kozáková, A. Balogh

(For elementary and middle schoolers aged 7 – 14)

MUSHROOMS GALORE / LONG NIGHT OF MUSEUMS AND GALLERIES

Come and celebrate with us the Long Night of Museums and Galleries. MYKO, the book illustrated by Daniela Olejníková, will take us mushroom hunting at BIBIANA’s exhibitions instead of the forest. Can you identify mushrooms? Are you afraid to pick them? Don’t be scared. Together, we will learn to identify mushrooms and discover the beauty of their shapes and structures through this creative workshop. We will page through books about mushrooms, learn about their colours and shapes and use them in our creative process. Free entry.

YOUR MOST BEAUTIFUL BOOK

In this workshop, children will make a concertina fold book with their own illustrations. Children will make their own books under the guidance of Veronika Pažická, the illustrator of the Little Guidebook to Short Poems (Slovníček z básničiek), included in the collection of the Most Beautiful Books of Slovakia 2023.

Under the guidance of Veronika Pažická

(For children 8 and older)

WHAT’S HIDDEN IN THE SHADOWS, SECRET FRIENDS

The things around us that we know, we are not afraid of. But what if we’d only see their shadows? Thanks to our imagination, we often see things in the shadows we fear. We will dive into the fascinating world of shadows and discover that shadows are not merely obscure but can also be entertaining and playful. We will look at everyday objects from a different perspective, and using creativity, we will try to overcome the fear of shadows and discover how they can become our new friends.

Under the guidance of A. Frajková, N. Kozáková, M. Pavlikánová

(For elementary and middle schoolers aged 6 – 14)
