INTERNATIONAL CHILDREN’S BOOK DAY – OVER THE SEAS ON THE WINGS OF FANTASY
This year, the event dedicated to the International Children’s Book Day Program is organised with the help of the Japanese section of IBBY. The tale of Eiko Kadono – Over the Seas on the Wings of Fantasy was illustrated by Nana Furiya, who lives in Slovakia.
The event includes a workshop with the illustrator, creative activities built around the tale and a new exhibition of the illustrations by Ján Kurinec in the Ruthenian version of Andersen’s fairy tales.
RAINBOW IN OUR DAILY LIFE
The rainbow sometimes appears not only in the sky but in other places, too. We can even create our own rainbow or summon it; it can brighten up and infuse our day with colour anytime we feel our life is dull. The event with József Kohút from the Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute will teach you about the rainbow phenomenon, and you will have the opportunity to make and draw your own rainbow.

COLOUR ALCHEMY
Join us for an expedition where the connection to nature becomes the source of a new artistic adventure. The workshop aims to explore and use natural pigments that offer a wide array of colours and creative experiences with the help of nature. Participants will be able to learn about the fascinating world of colours nature provides us. Children will learn about the methods using natural pigments and experiment with various techniques and materials artists use.

BLACK AND WHITE WORLD – BLIND DRAWING
Can you imagine a world without colours? A world in black and white only? Let’s try to recreate it using the technique of blind drawing. This unique technique allows the children to express their memories. It also encourages creativity and expression without the visual aspect, enabling them to express their feelings and experiences through touch.

MIMICRY
Are colours important in life? Can we use colours to disguise and hide ourselves? Together, we will learn about the captivating world of colours and their meanings in nature, where some creatures disguise themselves or hide with the help of colours. This resemblance is called mimicry. You will discover how some animals use colours to survive, and we will learn why mimicry is essential.

BIBIANA CINEMA: YELLOW
Yellow is a short film about freedom, the joy of life, and fear that prevents us from experiencing these feelings. After the screening of the animated short film by Ivana Šebestová, we will create an animation in the colour of the sun. The duration of the screening, including the workshop, is 120 minutes.

SPOOKS
An engaging staged reading from the children's book of the same name performed by students of the Academy of Performing Arts. The book Bubacs by Tereza Oľhová and Vlad Janček was included among the Most Beautiful Books of Slovakia 2021.
