CALLIGRAPHY = PENMANSHIP

Dates of event :

from: 24. 5. 2019

to: 3. 11. 2019

Venue :

BIBIANA, 1st floor

This exhibition dedicated to calligraphy is basically about penmanship (beautiful script), showing - how script came into being over the centuries in various parts of the world. The visitors get the chance of writing something in cuneiform script, compose pictorial sentences out of Egyptian hieroglyphs or practice some decorative writing with a brush or quills. In the "land of scribes" (called also "scriveners"), they will visit the castle's writing room (scriptorium); the desert-tent of an Arabian penman or a pagoda of a Chinese "script-painter". For those who still cannot write, we have prepared our most famous ABC - i.e. the Painted ABC, which has been written for the kids by the Slovak poet Ján Smrek. And if some would like to know beautiful writing (more) in detail, we are also planning some creative workshops at the atelier.

Script and dramaturgy – I. Abrahamfyová, Artistic and spatial and technical design – K. Abrahamfyová, Graphic design – L. Repková, Illustrations – A. Wagnerová
